Chapter 21 - The First Letter Violetta Writes Primrose

Violetta’s therapist suggested an apology letter.

Primrose’s therapist said:

“Write it. Do not assume she should receive it.”

Excellent distinction.

Violetta wrote:

Primrose,

I hit you when you accidentally broke the vase.

Direct.

“You did not deserve that.”

Good.

“I was angry about something that belonged to adults and about a broken object.”

Then:

“The vase was valuable, but you are more important than a vase.”

Primrose eventually read that at six.

She frowned.

“That obvious.”

Children.

Violetta continued:

“I also said you ruin everything you touch. That was cruel and untrue.”

Primrose looked at me.

“I broke three things.”

“Three things in six years is excellent.”

She counted.

“Cup. Vase. Snow globe.”

“The snow globe was me.”

“Oh.”

Then the letter:

“You do not have to forgive me or spend time with me. I am sorry.”

Primrose finished.

“Can she know I read?”

“Yes, if you want.”

“Tell her.”

“What should I say?”

Primrose thought.

“Say okay.”

That was it.

I relayed:

Primrose read your letter. She asked me to tell you “okay.”

Violetta replied:

Thank you.

May you like

No pressure.

Progress.
