Chapter 11

Sabina's case developed along two separate tracks.
The financial investigation examined Northbridge's invoices, ownership disclosures, and beneficiary-status records.
The hospital investigation examined her assault on Elara and theft of the black card.
Her attorneys tried to argue that she had taken the card only to complete legitimate reserve administration.
The bank records undermined that explanation.
The card had already been reported stolen.
Sabina knew Elara had refused the paperwork.
She attempted to obtain the PIN through physical intimidation.
Those facts were not ordinary administrative confusion.
Northbridge was placed into supervised restructuring.
Its legitimate care-coordination contracts were transferred to independent providers.
Several employees kept their jobs.
Others received severance from remaining company assets.
Sabina lost control of the business.
Her personal guarantees became enforceable obligations.
She sold investments and property to fund restitution and settlements.
The final financial findings distinguished between services actually delivered, inflated charges, unsupported invoices, and false beneficiary authorizations.
Not every Northbridge employee had known what Sabina was doing.
Two administrators had questioned unusual invoices and been told the family approved them.
They cooperated with investigators.
Another had knowingly prepared false service records.
That employee faced separate consequences.
Beatrice resigned from every reserve position.
She lost access to beneficiary records and payment approvals.
She could no longer direct family-support staff.
The hospital incident brought restrictions on contact with Elara and Luca.
Her claim that she was acting as a grandmother did not give her authority to remove a newborn from his mother's care.
Damien's own shove against Sabina was reviewed.
The footage showed him take Luca safely from Beatrice and return him to Elara before pushing Sabina into the chair.
He acknowledged that the immediate danger had ended.
He accepted a limited legal resolution and counseling rather than insisting family status excused his anger.
Elara watched him sign the paperwork.
“You didn't have to do that for me.”
“I didn't do it for you.”
She looked surprised.
“I did it because I was wrong.”
Elara nodded.
“That matters.”
He looked toward Luca sleeping beside her.
“I want him to know the difference between stopping somebody and punishing them.”
May you like
Elara touched his hand.
“Then keep showing him.”
