Chapter 7 - The Docks at Midnight

The black SUV flew down the highway at breakneck speed, its engine roaring through the night mist as Adrian drove with relentless determination.
Beside him, Marco was coordinating with their off-grid secondary security team—six loyal enforcers who answered directly to Adrian without going through the main estate switchboard.
"Unit Two is three minutes from the estate, Boss," Marco reported, holding his radio. "They're reporting heavy vehicle movement near the south gate!"
By the time Adrian’s SUV smashed through the open gates of the estate ten minutes later, the courtyard was a scene of silent chaos.
The main front doors were standing wide open. Two perimeter guards lay disarmed and unconscious on the lawn, while the main foyer lights flickered under emergency battery power.
Adrian sprinted up the marble stairs, charging into the guest wing.
The guest bedroom door was torn off its hinges. Inside, Teresa was lying on the carpet, groggy but uninjured, having been hit with a localized stun device.
The bed was empty. Emma’s pink cardigan lay crumpled on the floor, and her backpack was gone.
Adrian dropped to his knee beside Teresa, helping her sit up. "Teresa! Where is she?"
"They... they took her, Adrian," Teresa gasped out, holding her head. "A dark van... three men in tactical gear... they took her toward the harbor district!"
Adrian stood up, his towering frame radiating a terrifying, absolute authority. He pulled his smartphone from his suit pocket as it began to vibrate violently in his hand.
An unknown, encrypted caller ID flashed on the screen.
Adrian answered it, placing the phone to his ear. "Speak."
"Hello, Adrian," Dominic Falcone’s smooth, arrogant voice echoed over the line. "I see you found my little present at Blackwood Manor."
"If you touch a single hair on that child's head, Dominic," Adrian said, his voice dropping into a low, chilling whisper, "I will tear down every building you own in this city."
"Relax, my old friend," Falcone sneered. "I don't want to harm the girl. I just want what belongs to me. Bring your black onyx family ring to Pier 42 at midnight. Exchange the ring for the child, and we all walk away from this business forever."

"I’ll be there," Adrian declared coldly, hanging up the phone before Falcone could utter another word.
He turned to Marco. "Load the heavy gear. We're going to Pier 42."
