Chapter 9 - The Safehouse Siege

Dominic Falcone stood pinned against the side of a cargo container, handcuffed, his smug demeanor completely shattered as Marco disarmed his remaining men.
Adrian stood near the front of his SUV, holding Emma securely in his left arm. He turned slowly to face the man standing fifteen feet away.
Julian walked forward, lowering his weapon. The two brothers stared at each other across the open air—six years of grief, anger, and hidden truth collapsing into a single, breathtaking moment.
Adrian took a step forward, his broad frame trembling slightly as he looked into his younger brother's eyes.
"You're alive," Adrian whispered, his voice thick with a raw, overwhelming emotion he hadn't shown in a decade.
Julian let out a ragged breath, stepping in to wrap his arm around Adrian’s shoulders in a tight, powerful embrace. "I'm sorry I stayed in the dark for so long, brother. I had to keep Clara and Emma safe."
"Where is Clara?" Adrian asked, looking around the pier.
"She’s at a secure federal safehouse in Brooklyn," Julian revealed quickly. "She has the master evidence drive containing Falcone's complete offshore financial records and the wiretap logs from six years ago."
"Then let's go get her," Adrian declared.
Twenty minutes later, three black vehicles pulled up outside a quiet, brick townhouse in red-brick Brooklyn.
Julian led Adrian and Marco up the front steps, using a private passkey to unlock the heavy door.
Inside the warmly lit living room, a beautiful woman with long brown hair stood up from the sofa. It was Clara.
The moment she saw Emma, Clara dropped to her knees, opening her arms wide as the six-year-old girl ran into her embrace, sobbing with relief.
"Mommy!" Emma cried out, burying her face into her mother's neck.
Clara held her daughter tightly, looking up at Adrian with tears glistening in her eyes. "Thank you, Adrian. Thank you for bringing her home."
Adrian knelt beside them, placing his large hand over Clara’s shoulder. "You're family, Clara. Nobody in this city will ever threaten you again."
Clara reached into her coat pocket and pulled out a heavy, encrypted black flash drive, handing it to Adrian. "This drive contains everything, Adrian. Bank accounts, shell companies, and the original recorded hit orders Falcone placed six years ago."
Suddenly, the front windows of the townhouse shattered into a thousand pieces.

A tear-gas canister bounced across the hardwood floor, releasing a dense cloud of white smoke as heavy automatic gunfire erupted from the street outside.
Falcone’s secondary hit team—a desperate backup force—had tracked their location to execute one final, ruthless strike.
