Chapter 8 - the siege of lake shore

The shockwave knocked two council members off their feet as smoke poured through the shattered windows.

"Infiltration at the front gate!" Marcus’s voice boomed over the emergency comms unit in Dominic's ear. "Multiple armored vehicles! It's the Valentis! They're pushing through the courtyard!"

Dominic didn't hesitate for a fraction of a second. He grabbed Elena by her shoulders, shoving her down beneath the heavy marble council table as automatic gunfire erupted from the driveway below!

"Marcus! Get the elders down to the subterranean bunker through the private lift!" Dominic commanded, drawing his heavy silver revolver.

"Dominic! What about you?" Don Carmine shouted, ducking as bullets whistled through the high ceiling plaster.

"I'm clearing the courtyard," Dominic growled, his face a terrifying mask of lethal resolve.

Dominic grabbed a tactical submachine gun from a disarmed guard's holster, pulled two extra magazines from his belt, and turned to Elena. "Stay with Marcus. Do not leave the bunker until I come get you."

Elena grabbed his forearm, her fingers tightening around his dark sleeve. "Dominic... don't die out there."

Dominic offered a quick, dangerous smirk. "This is my house, little niece. Nobody takes it from me."

Dominic burst out of the council chamber into the grand hallway, firing a devastating volley into three Valenti mercenaries who had just breached the top of the grand staircase!

The heavy rounds tore through the attackers, sending them tumbling backward down the marble steps. Dominic moved like a whirlwind of dark destruction, advancing down the staircase with heavy, unstoppable strides, clearing the lower foyer with lethal precision.

Through the shattered front doors, he saw the main courtyard filled with smoke, burning sedans, and dozens of Valenti soldiers pushing toward the main entrance under the cover of heavy machine-gun fire.

Standing beside an armored black SUV at the gate was the head of the Valenti family himself—Victor Valenti.

Victor was a fifty-year-old ruthless mobster dressed in a dark tactical coat, holding a heavy assault rifle, shouting orders to his men as they fired upon the mansion facade.

Dominic stepped out onto the grand stone porch, completely exposed to the rain and fire, his dark eyes locked onto Victor across the smoky courtyard.

"Valenti!" Dominic’s deep voice roared over the sound of gunfire like thunder. "You came to the wrong house!"
