Chapter 10 - the golden dawn

Three weeks later, a brilliant, warm morning sun shone over the Whitmore estate, painting the manicured lawns and blue lake in dazzling golden light.
The dark clouds that had hung over the property were entirely gone. The Sterling investigation had concluded, the stolen funds were fully recovered, and peace had returned to the mansion.
Out on the sunlit stone terrace overlooking the lake, nine-year-old Camila sat at a white wrought-iron table, wearing a bright new yellow dress, happily drawing in a brand-new art set Jonathan had gifted her.
Rosa walked out onto the terrace carrying a tray of fresh lemonade, dressed in an elegant white linen dress. Her fair face looked healthy, radiant, and completely free of the exhaustion that had plagued her for years.
Jonathan stepped out onto the terrace, wearing a simple white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, revealing his dark tattoos under the warm sun.
He walked over to Rosa, handing her a leather folder stamped with the official seal of the Whitmore Trust.
"What is this, Mr. Whitmore?" Rosa asked softly.
"Open it," Jonathan smiled gently.
Rosa opened the folder. Inside was a legal deed transferring permanent ownership of the estate's south cottage directly to her and Camila, alongside an official appointment letter making her the Chief Executive Administrator of the Whitmore Private Foundation—with a salary six times higher than her former wage.
Rosa covered her mouth, tears of joy filling her eyes as she looked up at him. "Jonathan... I can't accept this..."
"It was my father's wish, Rosa," Jonathan said softly, taking her hand. "And it's my promise. You and Camila are family now."
Camila ran over, throwing her arms around Jonathan's waist. "Thank you, Jonathan!"
Jonathan laughed—a rich, warm sound—and patted her head gently, looking out over the sparkling lake.
Suddenly, his private phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and looked at the screen.
It was an untraceable text message sent from an international server in London:
The Whitmore debt is settled in New York, but the European board has just unlocked your father's secondary vault in Paris.
Jonathan stared at the message, a quiet, subtle smile touching his lips as he folded the phone and placed it back into his pocket, looking toward the horizon with unshakeable resolve.
"Is everything okay?" Rosa asked gently.
May you like
Jonathan looked at Rosa and Camila, his posture tall and completely confident against the bright blue sky.
"Everything is perfect, Rosa," Jonathan whispered softly into the warm summer breeze. "Our story is just getting started."
