Harper filed for an abuse-prevention order.
Her decision.
Not mine.
Aisha represented her.
Derek had counsel.
Temporary order first.
Then contested hearing.
Evidence included:
Harper’s testimony.
Photographs taken by a clinic.
Gate video.
Repeated calls and messages.
Prior incident records.
Database access findings available through appropriate channels.
A coffee-shop employee who remembered Derek following Harper inside after she told him to leave.
No need for perfect proof of every historical bruise.
Derek denied many allegations.
Admitted arguments.
Admitted grabbing Harper’s arm once:
“To stop her walking into traffic.”
She denied that context.
Judge did not decide the entire marriage at temporary stage.
The order prohibited contact and required distance from residence, work, and Noah’s school.
Firearm implications for a police officer became significant under federal/state law and department policy.
The department handled surrender/storage through its process.
No Gabriel Ashford disarming a cop personally.

Derek’s attorney argued Beacon Hill residence was unsuitable because of my criminal reputation.
Aisha answered:
“Ms. Queen is not asking this court to award Mr. Ashford guardianship. She is asking for protection from her former spouse.”
Important.
The judge asked Harper:
“Do you intend to remain employed there?”
“For now.”
“Are you free to leave?”
“Yes.”
“Does Mr. Ashford control your finances?”
“No.”
“Legal case?”
“No.”
“Transportation?”
“No.”
Then:
“Do you fear him?”
Harper looked at me? I wasn't in the room? I was in back maybe allowed public hearing. She said:
“Sometimes.”
That surprised me.
Judge:
“Why?”
“Because he has power.”
Truth.
“Has he threatened you?”
“No.”
“Prevented you from leaving?”
“No.”
“Then why stay?”
Harper answered:
“Because Mrs. Morrison gave me a job before she knew any of this, and Mr. Ashford has mostly listened when I told him no.”
Mostly.
Private investigators existed.
Accurate.
The order issued.
No triumph.
Paper is not force field.
But paper creates enforceable boundaries.
