Chapter 26

The air inside the subterranean command center of the Bellacorte Tower was thick with adrenaline and the chilling realization that their legitimate corporate empire was insufficient to protect their lives. The pristine facade of corporate law and financial manipulation had been violently shattered by the crude, brutal reality of cartel warfare. If they wanted to survive, they had to hybridize their power: leveraging infinite global capital above ground, and unleashing unparalleled, monstrous violence below.
Dominic’s heavily encrypted holographic projection flickered over the central tactical table, broadcasting live from a secure airstrip in Geneva. Even through the digital distortion, the horrific burn scars and the cold silver half-mask radiated an aura of pure intimidation.
"Are Sarah and Richard secure?" Dominic demanded, his raspy voice tight with frantic, agonizing concern.
"Grandpa took a grazing shot to the shoulder, but the medical team has stabilized him. Mom is unharmed," Noah reported, standing tall at the head of the table. He wore a fresh black dress shirt, the sleeves rolled up, revealing forearms tense with suppressed energy. "The assassins were cartel mercenaries, but they bore the rusted cross branding. Mark is using his punishment as a twisted symbol of loyalty for his new foot soldiers."
"He survived the slum, manipulated the Los Sombras cartel into backing him, and orchestrated a synchronized global strike against our family," Dominic summarized, his pale gray eye narrowing behind the mask. "He has evolved from a cowardly, greedy fool into a genuine, existential threat."
Richard sat in a high-backed leather chair, his left arm bound in a tight sling. His weathered face was grim. "Mark didn't evolve, Dominic. He is a rabid dog that found a bigger master. The cartel isn't funding this massive, multi-million-dollar war merely to settle Mark's personal vendetta against us. They want the Bellacorte logistics network. They want our East Coast banking infrastructure to launder their blood money. Mark promised them the keys to our empire in exchange for a throne."
Noah pulled up the decrypted files he had extracted from the USB drive Dominic secured in Geneva. Complex topographical maps of the Amazon basin materialized on the digital monitors.
"I have isolated the cartel's primary command fortress," Noah stated, pointing to a heavily fortified compound buried deep within the dense, suffocating canopy of the Brazilian rainforest. "It's an impenetrable stronghold. Automated anti-aircraft batteries, hundreds of heavily armed mercenaries, and a subterranean bunker system. They are using our hijacked freighters to transport tactical assets directly to this location."
"A traditional assault would be a massacre," Frank warned, analyzing the troop movements on the screen. "We can't deploy a large mercenary force without triggering the Brazilian military's radar."
"We don't need a large force," Dominic said softly, his voice dropping to a freezing, lethal frequency. "We need a scalpel. I am activating the dormant protocols of the Iron Collar. I have forty of the most lethal, highly specialized ghost operatives in Europe standing by. We will HALO jump into the jungle canopy under the cover of darkness, completely bypassing their early warning systems."
"I am coming with you," Noah declared, his voice leaving absolutely no room for debate.
"Absolutely not," Dominic snapped, his paternal terror flaring instantly. "You are not stepping into a jungle warzone, Noah! You were raised for the boardroom, not the battlefield!"
"The boardroom was breached tonight, Dad," Noah countered fiercely, his bright blue eyes locking with Dominic's digital projection. "I just killed a man on the marble floor of our home. The innocence you and Grandpa tried to protect is gone. Mark thinks I am still the terrified, barefoot three-year-old child he shoved into the snow. I need to show him exactly what kind of monster he created."
Richard looked at his grandson, seeing the absolute, unbreakable iron will of the Bellacorte bloodline shining brilliantly in the boy's eyes. The patriarch slowly nodded.

"Let him go, Dominic," Richard commanded softly. "He has the intellect to disable the cartel's cyber-defenses from the inside, and he has the blood to survive the violence. It is time the heir claims his legacy."
Dominic remained silent for a long, agonizing moment before letting out a heavy, defeated sigh. "Pack your gear, Noah. We rendezvous in Brazil in twelve hours."
