Chapter 28

The subterranean bunker erupted into a deafening, claustrophobic nightmare of automatic gunfire. The sheer volume of fire from the cartel elite guards tore the glowing tactical monitors to shreds, showering the room in sparking glass and electrical debris.

Dominic moved with explosive, terrifying speed, shoving Noah violently behind a thick reinforced concrete pillar just as a hail of armor-piercing rounds chewed through the space where they had been standing. Dominic didn't cower; he leaned out, utilizing the overwhelming, disciplined firepower he had honed during his years commanding the Iron Collar. His suppressed rifle barked rhythmically, dropping three cartel guards with flawless, lethal headshots.

"Stay down, Noah!" Dominic roared over the din, slamming a fresh magazine into his weapon.

Noah crouched behind the concrete, his heart hammering wildly, but panic did not consume him. He analyzed the geometry of the room, his brilliant mind calculating the angles of incoming fire. He noticed the heavy, overhead industrial lighting rigs suspended by thick steel cables directly above the cartel guards' entrenched position.

Noah didn't wait for permission. He rolled smoothly out of cover, raising his suppressed submachine gun. He aimed not at the men, but at the structural mounting brackets of the lighting rig. He squeezed the trigger in a sustained burst.

The heavy steel cables snapped with a violent, metallic twang. The massive industrial lighting rig, weighing over a ton, plummeted from the ceiling, crashing directly onto the cartel guards. The impact crushed four mercenaries instantly and plunged the left flank of the bunker into chaotic darkness.

"Move!" Dominic yelled, capitalizing on his son's brilliant tactical diversion.

Dominic surged forward like a relentless, unstoppable force of nature, his silver mask gleaming in the muzzle flashes. He engaged the cartel warlord in brutal, close-quarters combat. The massive warlord swung his gold-plated rifle like a club, aiming for Dominic's head, but Dominic deflected the blow with his forearm, driving a devastating knee strike into the warlord's abdomen. With blinding speed, Dominic drew a combat blade and drove it precisely through the vulnerable gap in the warlord's body armor, ending his life in a single, fatal motion.

Mark watched his ultimate protector fall, the crazed, arrogant confidence instantly draining from his scarred face. The absolute terror he had felt ten years ago in the old ranger station returned with crushing force. He dropped his weapon, scrambling backward frantically until his back hit the cold steel of the bunker wall.

Dominic strode through the smoke and blood, his heavy boots crunching over the shattered glass. He stopped inches from his older brother, the barrel of his rifle aimed directly at Mark's chest.

"Dominic... wait! Please!" Mark sobbed, dropping to his knees, his hands raised in desperate surrender. The rusted cross on his cheek stretched grotesquely as he wept. "We are brothers! You spared me before! You said executing me would dirty your hands!"

"I spared you because I thought living as a destitute stray dog would force you to understand the suffering you inflicted on my family," Dominic said, his raspy voice echoing with profound, unyielding disgust. "But you are incapable of redemption. You are a rabid animal."

Noah stepped out from the shadows, his weapon lowered, his blue eyes staring coldly at the pathetic, weeping man who had once shoved him barefoot into the freezing snow.

"You aren't going to shoot him, Dad," Noah said, his voice flat and devoid of all emotion.

Mark looked up, a pathetic glimmer of hope flashing in his tear-filled eyes. "Yes! Listen to the boy! He knows we are family!"

Noah pulled his specialized tactical tablet from his vest. He tapped a single icon. The heavy steel blast doors of the bunker slowly hissed open.

"I disabled their automated defenses, but I also disabled the biometric locks on the cartel's subterranean vault," Noah stated, staring directly into Mark's terrified eyes. "The Los Sombras mercenaries outside just discovered that their entire cash reserve—five hundred million dollars—has been digitally completely wiped from their servers, permanently transferred into a blind offshore account."

Dominic lowered his rifle, a dark, understanding smirk touching the unscarred side of his face.

"The cartel knows you orchestrated the cyber-attack, Mark," Noah continued coldly. "They know you brought us here. To them, you aren't an ally. You are the traitor who just stole their entire fortune."

From the open blast doors, the terrifying, enraged screams of dozens of heavily armed cartel mercenaries echoed down the corridor, charging blindly toward the command bunker to slaughter the man who had robbed them.

"No! Please! They'll butcher me!" Mark shrieked, crawling toward Dominic's boots. "Shoot me! Just shoot me!"

"You don't deserve a clean death," Dominic whispered, turning his back on his brother. "Enjoy your empire, Mark."

Dominic and Noah slipped seamlessly into the hidden maintenance access tunnels at the rear of the bunker, disappearing into the shadows just as the furious cartel horde breached the main doors, tearing Mark apart in a frenzy of absolute, merciless vengeance.
