Chapter 27

The suffocating, oppressive heat of the Amazon basin was a stark, miserable contrast to the crisp, clean mountain air of Colorado. The dense, rotting canopy of the rainforest plunged the environment into an eerie, perpetual twilight, filled with the deafening hum of insects and the distant cries of unseen predators.

Deep within the green hell, the Los Sombras cartel fortress stood like a brutalist concrete scar against nature. It was surrounded by electrified razor wire, towering guard towers, and patrolled by heavily armed mercenaries accompanied by vicious security dogs.

Under the cover of a torrential, blinding downpour, Dominic Bellacorte and his elite Iron Collar strike team materialized from the dense foliage like phantoms of death. They wore advanced, radar-absorbent jungle tactical suits and night-vision optics. Dominic moved flawlessly despite his limp, his suppressed assault rifle held with terrifying, practiced lethal precision. Beside him, breathing heavily but remarkably composed, was Noah, clutching a customized, suppressed submachine gun.

"Noah, sync the override module with the perimeter junction box," Dominic whispered into the encrypted comms, pointing toward a thick bundle of fiber-optic cables running along the concrete wall.

Noah moved silently through the mud. He attached a specialized decryption device to the cables, his fingers flying across a ruggedized tactical tablet. The brilliant, calculating mind that had mastered global financial ledgers effortlessly dismantled the cartel's cutting-edge cybersecurity grid.

"Perimeter cameras are looped. Automated turrets are deactivated," Noah reported, his blue eyes icy and focused. "We have a three-minute window before their internal diagnostics register the anomaly."

"Execute," Dominic ordered.

The strike team breached the outer gates with suppressed, localized explosive charges. They flooded into the compound, moving with the terrifying speed and ruthlessness of a highly synchronized wolf pack. The cartel sentries barely had time to register the shadows before suppressed rounds dropped them silently into the mud.

Dominic and Noah pushed directly toward the central command bunker. The heavy steel doors were locked, but Noah quickly spliced the biometric scanner, forcing the hydraulic locks to hiss open.

They stepped into a massive, air-conditioned subterranean war room, illuminated by banks of glowing tactical monitors. At the far end of the room, standing behind a sprawling mahogany desk that mirrored the one in Chicago, was Mark.

The eldest Bellacorte son looked completely deranged. He was dressed in expensive, sweat-stained tropical linen. The rusted cross carved deeply into his cheek was a hideous, jagged scar that pulled his face into a perpetual, psychotic sneer. Beside him stood the cartel's supreme commander, a massive, heavily tattooed warlord holding a gold-plated assault rifle.

"I knew you would come, Dominic!" Mark screamed, a twisted, maniacal laugh echoing through the bunker. "I knew you couldn't resist playing the hero!"

Dominic slowly raised his weapon, his pale gray eye burning with an absolute, merciless hatred from behind the silver half-mask. "You abandoned your blood in the snow, Mark. You sent assassins to butcher our father in his own home. Tonight, there will be no tribunals. No exile. I am going to erase you from existence."

Mark smiled, a sickening, triumphant expression. "You think you trapped me? I trapped you!"

Mark slammed a heavy red button on his desk. Instantly, heavy steel blast doors slammed shut behind Dominic and Noah, sealing them inside the bunker with the cartel warlord and a dozen heavily armed elite guards.

"Kill them both!" Mark roared. "And broadcast their executions to the old man in Chicago!"
