My assault case resolved through diversion.
Octavia had consequences too.
Not criminal for the cake.
She had not touched Juniper in the incident.
No evidence she directed the shove.
There was no basis for inventing charges because we disliked her influence.
Her consequences were relational.
Engagement over.
No access to my home.
No role in Juniper’s life.
Professional embarrassment after the leaked video.
That last part bothered me.
She deserved consequences from choices.
Not lifelong public humiliation.
She lost one charity board seat after sponsors worried about controversy.
Another kept her.
Her design consultancy continued.
She remained wealthy.
No collapse.
No need.
She entered therapy.
Not court ordered.
Initially to process being slapped.
Later she examined her role with Hadley.
Celeste temporarily limited unsupervised contact between Octavia and Hadley.
That hurt Octavia deeply.
Appropriate.
Hadley’s therapist recommended boundaries until the adult-child comparison dynamic changed.
After several months, contact resumed.
No discussions of Juniper.
No using Hadley to process adult romantic relationships.
No praising Hadley by comparing her to another child.
Simple rules.
Octavia complied.
That mattered.
People can do serious emotional harm and still change.
Change does not restore engagement.
It changes future behavior.
