Chapter 9 - The Truth Unveiled

The morning sun broke through the storm clouds over Long Island, casting brilliant golden light across the rain-washed grounds of the estate.
Inside the grand dining hall, the shattered glass had been cleared, and the heavy walnut table stood restored under the morning light.
In the upper master suite, Megan and Sadie were escorted down the grand staircase by Marco. Sadie was holding her box of crayons, her small black Mary Jane shoes clicking happily on the marble steps.
When they entered the dining room, Roman stood waiting near the window. He wore a clean white dress shirt and dark trousers, his dark hair styled back, his rugged face showing the exhaustion of the night, but his dark eyes were bright with a calm, triumphant energy.
He walked over to Megan and Sadie, stopping in front of them.
"The estate is secure, Megan," Roman said softly. "Victor Vance and Graham Pierce are in federal custody. They will never threaten anyone again."
Megan let out a deep, emotional sigh of relief, tears of joy filling her eyes. "Thank you, Roman... thank you for keeping us safe."
Roman looked down at four-year-old Sadie, kneeling in front of her.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, polished silver box. He opened the lid, revealing a beautiful silver pendant crafted in the shape of a rose, hanging from a fine platinum chain.
"This belonged to my sister Clara," Roman said gently, holding the necklace out to Sadie. "She gave it to your aunt Hannah twelve years ago to keep it safe. I want you to have it."
Sadie’s eyes lit up with wonder as Roman gently fastened the necklace around her neck. She held the silver rose in her small hand, looking up at Roman with a bright, beautiful smile.
"It's pretty," Sadie whispered softly. "Like my blue crayon."
Roman smiled—a rare, breathtaking expression that transformed his rugged face—and stood up to face Megan.
"My private jet is prepped at JFK Airport," Roman revealed, looking into Megan's dark eyes. "We are flying to Switzerland today to bring my sister home. And I want you and Sadie to come with me."

Megan looked at him, feeling a deep, powerful emotion stirring inside her heart. The timid, frightened maid who had hidden in his mansion for four years was gone, replaced by a woman who knew she had found a true protector.
"We will come with you, Roman," Megan said softly, a beautiful, confident smile gracing her lips.
