Chapter 9 - a promise carved in gold

The words hung in the warm afternoon air, filled with incredible weight and emotion.
Meera looked into Roman's dark, honest eyes. She saw no deception, no calculation—only a powerful, rugged man who was offering her and her son his entire world, his protection, and his heart.
Evan walked over, looking up at the two of them. "Does staying mean I get to see the elevator engines every day?"
Roman looked down at the boy, a warm, genuine laugh breaking from his chest. He knelt down, offering his large hand to the six-year-old.
"Evan," Roman said seriously. "If you and your mom stay, I will build you your very own mechanical engineering workshop right here in this hotel."
Evan’s bright brown eyes lit up with pure joy. He looked at his mother. "Mom! Please say yes!"
Meera looked from her beaming son to the giant, powerful man kneeling before him. The fear that had ruled her life for six years vanished completely, replaced by a profound sense of peace and belonging.
She set her small duffel bag down onto the plush carpet.
"Yes," Meera whispered, a radiant smile illuminating her fair, rosy face. "We'll stay."
Roman stood up, his dark eyes flashing with pure happiness. He stepped forward, wrapping his broad, powerful arms around Meera's waist, lifting her slightly off her feet as he pulled her into a deep, tender embrace. Meera wrapped her arms around his broad neck, burying her face in the crook of his shoulder, inhaling his comforting scent of cedarwood and rain.
When he set her back down, Roman reached into his inner suit jacket pocket, pulling out a small, velvet-lined mahogany box.
He opened it. Inside rested two platinum security passes stamped with a golden crown— granting absolute, unrestricted access to every floor, room, vault, and executive suite in the Black Crown empire.
"These belong to you and Evan now," Roman said softly, placing the passes into her hands. "You hold the master key to everything I own."
Meera looked at the glittering platinum cards, feeling a deep, emotional connection to the man who had given them everything.

"Thank you, Roman," she whispered, leaning up on her tiptoes to press a soft, sweet kiss against his cheek.
Roman smiled warmly, holding her close against his side as they turned to look out over the glittering city skyline together.
