Chapter 23 - The Collar Becomes Evidence, Then Trash

I kept adult collar for almost a year.
Why?
Police documentation initially.
Then therapy.
Then anger.
I imagined showing June someday.
Why?
To prove?
To explain?
To recruit her into my grievance?
Dr. Keller asked:
“What does June need from this object?”
Nothing.
The photographs and legal records existed if ever needed.
The collar itself was not historical treasure.
Wesley asked:
“Throw it out?”
I said:
“Together.”
Then changed mind.
“No.”
“What?”
“I don’t want ceremony.”
So one Tuesday, I put it in trash.
Normal kitchen trash.
Coffee grounds.
Diaper packaging.
Gone.
The small collar had been returned by police after documentation? Actually maybe remained in champagne and then gathered; we retained too. That one I discarded too.
No burning.
No cutting.
The object was not powerful.
The social rule behind it had been.
May you like
And that rule was changing.
