Three years after June’s welcome party, we found a photograph.
Not collar.
A candid shot from before everything.
June asleep against me.
Wesley beside us.
Margaret in background holding champagne.
No cruelty visible.
Just a family.
I almost deleted.
Then stopped.
History does not become false because later moment was terrible.
That afternoon also contained:
Cake.
Wesley changing June’s diaper badly.
Claire making fun of crown.
Margaret holding June gently before collar incident? Let's say earlier she did with consent.
People are multiple.
I saved photograph.
June was three.
She pointed.
“Grandma.”
“Yes.”
“Baby me.”
“Yes.”
“Mommy tired.”
“Very.”
She laughed.
No explanation about collar.
Not yet.
At three, she did not need adult humiliation history.
One day she would know age-appropriate truth.
Not as weapon.
As family story about boundaries and change.
