Chapter 15 - Peter Lang changes his story

Peter Lang had been Victor’s music coordinator.

At first, he supported Victor.

He signed a declaration saying:

“Mr. Blackwood and Mr. Rowan routinely exchanged musical ideas, and I understood the material forming Ashes Above the River to arise from those collaborative sessions.”

Careful.

Understood.

Not witnessed.

During deposition, Leah asked:

“Did you witness Victor Blackwood compose the seven-note principal motif?”

“No.”

“Did Daniel?”

“I heard Daniel play it.”

“When?”

“I don’t remember.”

“Before or after the Lantern Sea demo?”

Pause.

“Before the Ashes sessions.”

“Was it identified as Daniel’s?”

Peter looked down.

“He called it Lantern.”

There.

“Did Victor correct him?”

“No.”

Then:

“Who instructed you to copy the Lantern project files into the Ashes folder?”

Peter said:

“Victor.”

That sounded devastating.

Then context.

Victor had asked Peter to:

“pull Daniel’s Lantern material and see what can be adapted under the existing agreement.”

There.

Victor did not secretly pretend the source never existed internally.

He believed—or chose to believe—the contract gave him adaptation rights.

That shifted the case.

From clandestine theft.

To disputed rights plus false public credit.

Still serious.

May you like

More realistic.
