Chapter 16 - Michael Was Not Innocent of Everything

He was innocent of Rose’s scheme.
That did not mean he had been a good employer.
Michael had delegated everything.
Rose handled the household.
Helen handled daily operations.
His finance office paid invoices.
Security handled cameras.
He lived inside the mansion like a guest with ownership rights.
When staff disappeared, he asked Rose:
“What happened?”
She answered.
He accepted.
Grace stole.
Maria was careless.
Jordan drank.
Evelyn had attitude.
No curiosity.
Michael later told me:
“I thought paying extremely well meant people were protected.”
I answered:
“Money doesn’t protect you from the person who controls whether you keep getting it.”
He did not like that.
May you like
Neither did I.
Still true.
