Chapter 20 - The Former Staff Meeting

Michael did something unusual.
He invited former employees to meet with an independent workplace investigator.
Not him.
Nobody had to attend.
Five did.
Grace.
Maria.
Jordan.
Evelyn.
Samuel.
The stories differed.
Jordan admitted he once drank wine while working.
“One glass.”
Still misconduct.
But Rose accused him of stealing six bottles.
No evidence supported that.
Evelyn admitted she argued with a guest.
The guest had called her:
“the help”
and snapped fingers at her.
Rose fired Evelyn for embarrassing the household.
Samuel the driver really had scraped a car.
He reported it immediately.
Rose’s report said he concealed the damage.
False.
Complexity helped.

Nobody needed every former employee to become a saint.
Rose’s wrongdoing remained wrong without rewriting everyone else.
