The Moretti family council adopted one rule I wish had never needed writing:
No family member may countermand a documented medical care plan for a minor or dependent adult based solely on family rank.
One elderly cousin objected.
“What if the plan is wrong?”
“Call the doctor.”
“What if there isn’t time?”
“Follow emergency protocol.”
“What if—”
Marcus interrupted:
“You are looking very hard for a loophole to an inhaler.”
