Chapter 21 - OREN LEAVES THE FAMILY BUSINESS

Oren never entered Halbrook Holdings.
He became a marine engineer.
Loved ships.
Machines.
Ports.
The irony pleased the family historian because the earliest Halbrooks had been shipping people.
But Oren chose it independently.
At twenty-three, an older cousin said:
“You’re returning to the roots.”
Oren replied:
“I like engines.”
Good.
No destiny.
He worked for another company first.
No family shortcut.
Later consulted on a Halbrook marina project through normal procurement.
Declared conflict.
