Chapter 11 - My trusts already addressed donor conception

Sabine’s leverage file had one fatal weakness.

Camille and I had planned properly.

Before Ellie’s birth, our estate attorneys amended relevant trusts.

Language defined a child based on:

Legal parentage established under applicable law.

Including children conceived through assisted reproduction with documented parental intent.

No requirement of genetic descent where expressly stated.

My father had approved similar amendments in his estate plan after we told him about treatment.

Did he react perfectly?

No.

He needed time.

Then Camille asked:

“Do you want a granddaughter or a chromosome report?”

He chose his granddaughter.

By the time Ellie was born, the documents were clear.

Sabine’s theory that donor conception could simply erase Ellie from the family wealth structure was wrong.

That was why I had asked:

“Say that name.”

I wanted to know whether she had actually obtained the protected donor identity or was bluffing.

Nathaniel Reed proved she had the record.

And that meant someone had breached medical privacy.
