Chapter 8 - There was another page

Police obtained the complete medical record through the estate and appropriate process.
The page from Marlene’s purse was only part of it.
The full patient-advocacy note was longer.
Claire told the hospital social worker:
“My mother keeps bringing me forms when Ethan isn’t here.”
“What forms?”
“Financial things.”
“Do you understand them?”
“Some.”
“Do you want to sign them?”
“No.”
Then:
“She says I need to make sure she can take care of Lily if I die.”
That sentence crushed me.
The social worker asked:
“Do you want your mother to become Lily’s guardian?”
Claire answered:
“No.”
Not ambiguous.
