Chapter 15 - Ethan Gets His Room Back

It took one afternoon.
Not because cleaning was hard.
Because I let Ethan choose.
Linda’s clothes were removed through a supervised property pickup.
Her vanity.
Shoes.
Cosmetics.
Gone.
Then Ethan stood in the half-empty room.
“What first?”
“Dino.”
Of course.
Stuffed dinosaur on bed.
Then rocket lamp.
Then books.
Then Superman blanket.
I wanted to restore everything exactly.
Ethan said:
“Bed there.”
He pointed to other wall.
“You want to move it?”
“Yes.”
Why?
“Grandma put dresses there.”
He wanted a different layout.
Good.
Recovery is not always restoring old map.
Sometimes child needs new ownership.
We moved bed.
He chose glow-in-the-dark stars.
Ryan came later to help mount bookshelf because Ethan asked.
I almost said no.
Stopped.
His room.
His parent.
Ryan drilled.
I supervised.
No Linda.
At one point Ethan said:
“Dad, crooked.”
Ryan laughed.
“Your mother says same.”
I did not.
Normality appeared briefly.
Then left.
May you like
Enough.
