Chapter 22 - Ryan’s Apology to Ethan

Ryan apologized before Linda did.
In person.
Therapist present.
“Ethan, I knew Grandma was moving your things.”
There.
“I told myself it was only a room.”
There.
“I should have stopped and asked you and Mom before anything changed.”
Good.
Then:
“When Mom came home and you were crying, I told her she was overreacting.”
There.
“I was wrong.”
Ethan asked:
“Did you know Grandma hit?”
“No.”
That was true.
“If know?”
“I would have stopped her.”
Ethan studied him.
“Why not stop room?”
Ryan’s face broke slightly.
“Because I didn’t understand it mattered to you as much as it did.”
Then Ethan:
“Ask next time.”
Ryan nodded.
“I will.”
Simple.
No speech about finances.
No burden.
