Chapter 18 - The guest suite fight

Even after moving out, Delphine demanded reimbursement for design work on Maribel’s proposed bedroom conversion.
Her firm had paid an architect:
$22,000
for plans.
Was I responsible?
I never approved the work.
Our contract required written approval for individual design expenses above $10,000.
No approval.
Maison Vale ate the cost.
Then Delphine’s attorney argued:
The plans increased property marketability.
My appraiser disagreed.
Unbuilt plans add little.
No reimbursement.
That small dispute exposed the larger pattern.
Delphine often acted first.
Then treated the cost as evidence that consent must have existed because money had been spent.

Not legally.
