Chapter 11 - The threat was witness intimidation

“Touch me again, and her mother disappears.”
Lucille later tried to explain:
She meant:
“I’ll tell the government Dominic knows.”
Nonsense.
Federal prosecutors interpreted the statement in context with other evidence.
Investigators found messages between Lucille and a private security consultant.
No detailed murder plan.
No assassination order.
Nothing that dramatic.
But there were messages about:
Finding Alessandra.
Forcing her to stop cooperating.
“Bringing her home.”
“Making sure she understands what happens to everyone if she talks.”
That became far more serious than the staircase incident.
Possible charges:
Witness tampering.
Obstruction.
Threats connected to federal proceedings.
The investigation widened.
I did not threaten Lucille.
Did not send men.
Did not make calls.
My attorney told me:
“For once in your life, let government agents do their job.”
I said:
May you like
“That sounds personal.”
“It is.”
