Chapter 22 - I begin dismantling my own empire

Alessandra would not come home while my life remained what it had been.
She did not issue an ultimatum.
She did not need to.
I understood.
Federal investigators already had questions about my businesses.
Some I could answer.

Sold assets.
Closed businesses.
Terminated people whose real job descriptions never appeared on payroll.
Through counsel, I negotiated cooperation regarding certain historical conduct.
