Chapter 22 - Claire’s custody changes

Nathan returned to family court regarding Claire.
Not because Marietta slapped Aubrielle alone.
Because broader behavior worried him.
Using Claire to receive another child’s gifts.
Teaching family hierarchy.
Pressuring her to repeat adult narratives.
He did not seek termination of Marietta’s parental rights.
He sought:
More school-week time.
Decision-making therapy involvement.
Limits on involving Claire in financial disputes.
The court ordered:
Continued joint legal custody.
Nathan primary school-week residence temporarily.
Marietta alternating weekends and specified weekday dinner.
Co-parenting counseling.
No discussion of criminal or inheritance matters with Claire.
Narrow.
Not annihilation.
Marietta hated it.
She complied.
Mostly.

Then Claire’s therapist reported she was becoming less anxious.
That mattered more than who “won.”
