Chapter 8 - The Siege at Dawn

The subterranean corridors beneath the Rossi mansion echoed with the deafening roar of tactical gunfire as Sir Arthur Sterling’s European mercenaries breached the basement service entrance.

Smoke filled the dark stone hallways, illuminated only by the pulsing red emergency lights.

Dominic Russo stood behind a concrete pillar, firing precise, controlled bursts from his automatic rifle, holding off five advancing mercenaries. "Hold the line! Protect the master suite corridor!"

Vincent moved through the shadows like an unstoppable force of nature. Wearing his dark brown suit with his shirt unbuttoned, his dark tattoos visible under the red strobe lights, he fired with lethal, calculated precision, taking down three mercenaries who tried to flank Dominic's position.

"Where is Sterling?" Vincent thundered over the roar of crossfire.

"He's in the main courtyard, Boss!" Dominic shouted back. "Covered by six heavy enforcers!"

Vincent pushed forward through the smoke, clearing the basement stairs and bursting out into the rain-soaked main courtyard.

The rain poured heavily over the stone pavers. Standing near the central fountain was Sir Arthur Sterling—a sixty-year-old man in an expensive dark coat, flanked by four heavily armed guards. Standing beside him, trembling in fear, was Julian Rossi.

"Vincent!" Julian shrieked as he saw his cousin emerge from the shadows. "Listen to me! Sterling forced my hand! He was going to kill my family if I didn't give him the codes!"

"Shut up, Julian," Sterling growled coldly, raising a sleek silver handgun toward Vincent. "It's over, Rossi. Your syndicate ends tonight."

Before Sterling could pull the trigger, a high-velocity sniper round from Dominic's secondary marksman on the roof shattered the pavement at Sterling's feet, throwing the European crime lord off balance.

Vincent moved with blinding speed. He closed the distance in three long strides, disarming Sterling's lead guard with a brutal strike before grabbing Sterling by his coat collar and slamming him violently against the stone fountain.

The silver handgun clattered onto the wet pavers.

Julian tried to run toward the garden gates, but Dominic emerged from the side door, tackling the traitor onto the grass, pinning his arms behind his back with heavy steel handcuffs.

Vincent stood over Sir Arthur Sterling, his dark brown suit soaked with rain, his gray-blue eyes burning with an unholy, terrifying rage.

Sterling gasped for air, staring up at the Chicago crime lord in absolute horror. "You... you can't touch me, Rossi... I have immunity in Europe..."

"You're not in Europe, Sterling," Vincent growled, his voice a low, terrifying rumble that sent a chill through the older man's spine. "You're in my house."

Vincent gestured to two federal agents who stepped out from Dominic's secondary transport vehicle parked in the alley.

"Take them," Vincent ordered coldly. "Deliver the decrypted Zurich bank codes to federal prosecutors. Ensure neither of them ever sees the light of day again."

As Sterling and Julian were forcefully dragged away in handcuffs, the wail of police sirens filled the morning air, signaling the total collapse of the Sterling-Rossi conspiracy.

Vincent stood in the rain, taking a long, deep breath as the heavy weight that had burdened his chest for fourteen long months finally vanished into the morning mist.
