Chapter 25 - IVY RUNS A KITCHEN

Ivy grew up and became a chef.

Culinary school.
Restaurant work.
Burns on arms from legitimate professional mistakes.
Language I pretended not to hear.
At twenty-nine she opened a small restaurant.
No Moretti investment.
She refused.
Bank loan.
Partners.
Her own risk.
Opening night, I sat near the kitchen.
She came out wearing an apron.
I stared.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“Dad.”
“History.”
She kissed my head.

Good.
