Chapter 25 - I face the board

Moretti Family Office independent committee reviewed my role.
Not because I altered documents.
Because I delegated household authority broadly and ignored warning signs.
Findings:
I sent aggressive cost-cutting instructions without guardrails.
I failed to return Florence’s calls.
I allowed spouse access to household vendor approvals without conflict check.
I mixed family relationship and management authority.
No evidence I knew about meal restriction or document substitution.
Consequences:
I lost unilateral authority to approve related-party household vendors for two years.
Any family-office contract benefiting an immediate relative required independent committee.
Household child-care and nutrition decisions separated from cost-management pilots.
No cost incentive tied directly to reduced child food consumption.
Ridiculous that rule needed writing.
Still.
Then I accepted.
Samuel asked:
“Does it bother you?”
“Yes.”
“Because unfair?”
“No.”
“Then?”
“Because Elara—” Wrong story. Need not. There is no Elara. Remove. I said:
“Because I built a house where everyone thought my instructions were more important than asking whether children had eaten.”
May you like
Samuel nodded.
That was enough.
