Chapter 6 - The Clause Marina Was Waiting For

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Jonathan returned to the estate and opened the prenuptial agreement.

Page forty-three.

Victor had barely read it.

He trusted his legal team.

Marina apparently had not.

She had studied every line.

Under Bellini Legacy Trust rules, any previously unknown biological child discovered after marriage triggered an interim guardianship review.

During that review, Victor and his spouse would jointly exercise certain trustee powers.

Normally harmless.

Unless one spouse already controlled the child’s paperwork.

Marina did.

She had a forged guardianship history.

A private trust.

A network of attorneys.

And evidence designed to show Victor had “abandoned” Gabriel.

If she married Victor first, she could present herself to the court as the only adult who had protected the child from birth.

Victor stared at Jonathan.

“She planned to reveal him after our wedding.”

“That appears likely.”

“And argue I abandoned him.”

“Yes.”

“Then what?”

Jonathan continued.

Under the old family trust, Gabriel—if biologically Victor’s and born four minutes before Rose—would become the senior minor beneficiary.

Until adulthood, significant voting rights attached to his share would be supervised by court-recognized guardians.

Marina wanted to become one.

Not because Gabriel would instantly own Victor’s fortune.

Because controlling Gabriel’s legal position would give Marina enormous leverage over the family trust.

Victor closed the agreement.

“And Rose?”

Jonathan hesitated.

“She remains a beneficiary.”

“But not the senior one.”

“No.”

Victor remembered Marina’s words.

Real heirs get real food.

This had never been about a baby’s meal.

It was about hierarchy.

Marina believed Gabriel mattered more because his birth order gave him additional trust rights.

And she believed Rose was an obstacle.

Victor stood.

“Cancel the wedding.”

Jonathan nodded.

“Immediately.”

Marina entered the library before he could make the call.

“You do that, you’ll regret it.”

Victor looked at her.

“You forged abandonment papers.”

“You can’t prove I forged anything.”

“You hid a baby.”

“I protected him.”

“From me?”

“Yes.”

The word came instantly.

Victor stared.

Marina stepped closer.

“You have enemies everywhere. Elena knew that.”

“Don’t speak for Elena.”

“She was terrified of your world.”

“She never asked you to steal my son.”

Marina’s eyes flashed.

“You still don’t understand.”

“What?”

“She did ask someone to take him.”

Victor stopped.

Marina smiled.

“Not me.”

She reached into her handbag.

Then placed a folded page on the desk.

A handwritten note.

Elena’s signature.

Jonathan examined it.

My son cannot stay with Victor.

Please take him somewhere safe.

Victor read it twice.

His heart dropped.

Marina watched him carefully.

“You wanted the truth.”

Victor looked at her.

“Where did you get this?”

She smiled.

“From Elena.”

But Jonathan was already studying the handwriting.

Then he noticed the date.

March 13.

One day before Gabriel was born.

Jonathan’s eyes narrowed.

“Elena didn’t know the baby was a boy yet.”

Marina’s smile disappeared.

👉 Marina had finally produced the document she claimed justified everything—but one tiny detail suggested even Elena’s supposed final request had been manufactured.
