Chapter 9 - The Flash Drive in Marina’s Safe

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
A court-authorized search of Marina’s suite began that night.
Victor stayed outside.
He wanted no claim that evidence had been planted or touched.
Investigators found the flash drive inside a jewelry safe.
Hidden beneath diamonds.
The drive contained three files.
One was a scanned hospital document.
One was an audio recording.
One was video.
The video had been recorded in Elena’s hospital room.
Timestamp:
2:17 a.m.
Elena looked exhausted.
Pale.
Frightened.
A nurse held a newborn beside her.
Elena touched his cheek.
“My Gabriel.”
Victor’s eyes filled.
Then Elena looked toward the camera.
“Victor, if you see this, he was born first.”
The nurse laughed softly.
“Four minutes first.”
Elena smiled weakly.
Then the video ended.
Proof.
Gabriel existed.
Elena knew him.
She wanted Victor to know him.
The audio recording was stranger.
Two female voices.
Elena.
And Marina.
Marina’s voice:
“You need to sign before surgery.”
Elena:
“What is it?”
“Temporary guardianship if something happens.”
“For Rose?”
“For both babies.”
Victor looked toward Jonathan.
The recording continued.
Elena:
“Victor is their father.”
Marina:
“He isn’t here.”
“He’s coming.”
“You don’t know that.”
Then Elena said something that silenced everyone.
“I don’t trust you.”
A long pause.
Marina:
“Then sign nothing.”
The audio ended.
Jonathan opened the scanned document.
Temporary guardianship.
Elena’s signature line blank.
But the version later filed with the private attorney had a signature.
Elena’s.
Forged.
There was the foundation of Marina’s entire scheme.
A document Elena explicitly refused to sign.
Later submitted as though she had.
Victor looked toward Detective Cole.
“Is this enough?”
“It’s evidence.”
“Enough to arrest her?”
Cole remained careful.
“With the money trail, altered hospital record, forged guardianship papers, and concealed child? Prosecutors will make that decision.”
Victor hated careful language.
But careful language was exactly what Marina had underestimated.
Later that night, DNA results arrived.
Jonathan read them first.
He looked at Victor.
“99.999 percent.”
Victor’s jaw tightened.
“Father?”
“Yes.”
“And Rose?”
“Full biological siblings.”
Twins.
Gabriel Bellini was alive.
Victor sat down.
For nine months, he had mourned a living son.
Then Detective Cole entered.
“Victor.”
“What?”
“Marina is gone.”
Victor stood.
“How?”
One of her attorneys had obtained permission for her to leave the estate temporarily for a police interview.
She never arrived.
Her car had been found at a private airport.
Empty.
Then Victor’s phone rang.
Unknown number.
He answered.
Marina’s voice.
“You wanted your real heir?”
Victor’s face went cold.
“I found him.”
Silence.
Then Marina whispered—
“You found the child.”
Victor stopped.
She continued.
“You still haven’t found the heir.”

👉 Gabriel was Victor’s son—but Marina’s final words suggested the “real heir” secret was bigger than the hidden baby himself.
