Chapter 6 - Rosie’s medical evaluation

The pediatric emergency department kept Rosie for observation.
She had:
Several bruises.
A mild scalp contusion.
No intracranial injury.
No broken bones.
No spinal trauma.
She had been lucky.
Again.
That word.
Children should not need luck around adults.
The physician asked:
“Was the push intentional?”
“Yes.”
“Did the adult know she was near stairs?”
“Yes.”
Rosie interrupted.
“She hated Mommy too.”
I looked at her.
“What?”
Rosie blinked.
“She said Mommy always thought she was better.”
That was new.
Delphine and Vivienne had known each other socially and professionally for years.

I had assumed they merely disliked each other.
Apparently the dislike had history.
