Chapter 21

The private jet cut through the turbulent cloud deck at thirty-five thousand feet, tracking southwest across the darkened Midwestern sky. Inside the charcoal leather interior of the cabin, the pale amber glow of tactical displays cast sharp shadows across Ryan’s rugged, stone-carved face. He sat perfectly still, broad shoulders settled against the high-backed seat, his large hands resting flat upon the armrests. On the encrypted tablet beside him, a single red beacon pulsed over a satellite grid of Chicago: 41.8781° N, 87.6298° W.

Those numbers were not merely coordinates on an industrial freight yard. They were the jagged marks carved into the delicate skin of his six-year-old daughter’s back. Every time Ryan blinked, he saw Sarah standing frail and shivering on the heated marble of his master bathroom, clutching a towel, the crude ink scarring her flesh. The raw, volcanic fury that had fueled his ascent in the criminal underworld burned ice-cold in his veins. This was no longer business. This was an eradication.

Victor, his new lieutenant, walked down the aisle with the silent, balanced step of a seasoned mercenary. He wore black tactical gear beneath a weather-resistant shell, a sidearm holstered at his chest. "We touch down at Gary/Chicago International in twelve minutes, Boss," Victor reported, keeping his tone clipped and steady. "Our advance recon unit has the perimeter mapped. The target site sits on the south shore of Lake Michigan. Three decommissioned dry docks, flanked by rusted container yards. Enzo Falcone has turned the central warehouse into an armed compound. At least forty hostiles on-site, armed with military-grade carbines, heavy barricades, and high-voltage perimeter fences."

Ryan did not lift his gaze from the floor. "And Enzo himself?"

"Confirmed inside," Victor answered. "He fled to the Balkans after you crushed the family five years ago, liquidating offshore channels to rebuild. He returned six months ago, allied with Marcus, and coordinated the logistics. He believed Marcus would neutralize you from within while he amassed heavy weapons in Chicago."

Ryan stood up slowly. His towering frame filled the narrow cabin, radiating an aura of lethal, absolute authority. He stripped off his trench coat, revealing the fitted black dress shirt and Kevlar under-vest beneath. He slid his custom matte-black pistol into his shoulder holster, checking the chamber with a smooth, practiced click.

"The rules tonight are absolute," Ryan said, his deep voice slicing through the hum of the jet engines. "No negotiations. No compromises. No prisoners. Anyone bearing the Falcone crest dies in the dark."
