Chapter 14 - Lowri’s New Rule

Dr. Miriam helped Lowri create one.
Not us.
Lowri.
“My Mommy stuff is mine.”
Simple.
If an adult wanted to move a photograph:
Ask.
If Lowri said no:
No.
If an item created sleep problems:
Discuss.
Not secretly remove.
If she wanted to put something away:
Fine.
If she wanted it back:
Fine.
No shrine requirement.
No anti-shrine rule.
Choice.
We unpacked Celia’s box together.
Not all at once.
Lowri chose:
Aquarium picture.
Voice toy.
Blue scarf.
One wedding photo.
She rejected:
Celia’s old medical bracelet.
Good.
I had kept it for some reason.
Maybe guilt.
Lowri said:
“Hospital thing sad.”
We stored.
She found Celia’s perfume.
Smelled.
Immediately cried.
Then:
“Put away.”
I obeyed.
Not every memory belongs in daily view.
Difference:
Lowri chose.
That evening she placed one photograph beside her bed.
Then removed it before sleeping.
“I want tomorrow.”
Okay.
The rule became:
Memory can move without disappearing.
I needed that too.
Celia’s boxes were not sacred.
Thomasin’s photos were not forbidden.
Lowri kept one group photograph containing Thomasin from a zoo trip.
I almost removed.
Stopped.
“Do you want this?”
“Yes. Giraffe funny.”
There.
Thomasin existed in Lowri’s history too.
Ending engagement did not require deleting her.

If I had done that, I would have repeated the same mistake in reverse.
