Chapter 8 - the paper from geneva

The days following Diana's arrest passed in a blur of legal proceedings and corporate restructuring. The news of Julian's secret marriage and his legal heir, Maya, swept across national media, turning Grace from a humble housekeeper into one of the most talked-about figures in the country.
Yet, despite her sudden wealth, Grace remained humble, soft-spoken, and deeply devoted to her daughter. She and Maya moved permanently into the grand guest suite, warmly embraced by Eleanor, who spent every afternoon reading storybooks to her little granddaughter in the garden conservatory.
Two weeks after Christmas, Daniel sat in his study reviewing the financial audit files seized from Diana's private safe. Marcus walked into the room, carrying a thick black leather folder.
"Mr. Whitfield," Marcus said, setting the folder on the desk. "Our forensic accountants finished going through Diana's secondary private accounts. We found something strange."
Daniel looked up from his desk. "What is it?"
"For the past four years," Marcus explained, pointing to a series of monthly wire transfers, "Diana was sending fifty thousand dollars a month to a private medical facility in Switzerland called the Alpine Rest Sanatorium."
Daniel’s brows furrowed. "Why would she send money to a Swiss sanatorium?"
Marcus opened the folder, revealing a recent medical progress report stamped with a Swiss red cross. "The payments were for the specialized, round-the-clock intensive care of a unidentified patient listed as Patient 88. According to the notes, this patient was pulled from a river in Maine four years ago with severe amnesia and trauma, then secretly transported overseas under a false passport."
Daniel stood up so fast his leather chair rolled back against the wall. His breath caught in his throat, his hands trembling as he read the medical description of Patient 88: Male, mid-thirties, tall, dark hair, scar on right shoulder.
Julian had a scar on his right shoulder from a college football injury.

"My God..." Daniel breathed, tears filling his dark eyes for the first time in years. "Julian didn't die in Maine... Diana had him kidnapped and kept hidden in Switzerland so he could never recover his memory or come home!"
Daniel turned to Marcus, his voice roaring with renewed purpose. "Prep the private jet! We are flying to Geneva immediately!"
