Chapter 11

Marcella was arrested after the forgery report and witness interviews came in.
The charges included child assault, attempted custodial interference, obstruction, forgery, financial exploitation, witness intimidation, and fraud-related conduct connected to the charity-image contracts.
Her lawyers attacked Dominic first.
A Mafia boss.
A violent father.
A man who admitted striking a woman at his child’s party.
All true.
Then they attacked Grace.
A resentful outsider.
A lawyer who always hated the Carvelli family.
Partly true emotionally.
Not legally.
Then they attacked Natalia.
An anxious mother who wrote extreme documents during stress.
That failed.
Natalia’s documents were careful, specific, and supported by evidence.
She had not said Dominic did not love Lulu.
She had said his world made safety dependent on his mood and presence.
The court understood that distinction.
Marcella eventually entered a negotiated plea.
She admitted to child assault, forgery-related conduct, obstruction, and financial misconduct.
She received a custodial sentence, restitution obligations, forfeiture of improper fees, and a permanent no-contact order involving Lulu, Grace, and key witnesses.
She was barred from any fiduciary, charity, or child-related family role.
Dominic completed diversion for the slap.
The charge was dismissed under the agreement.
He did not celebrate.
A dismissed charge did not make Lulu unsee what happened.
Meanwhile, the federal investigation into Carvelli businesses continued.

Natalia’s packet had opened a door.
Dominic could not close it without proving Marcella right.
