Chapter 8

Dominic made the irreversible decision one week after the birthday party.

He petitioned the court to appoint an independent trustee over Lulu’s clean trust and a professional household monitor for any staff involved in child care.

Not Marcella.

Not Grace alone.

Not Dominic.

Independent control.

His lawyer warned:

“You’re giving outsiders power over your daughter’s money.”

Dominic answered:

“I’m taking it away from people who used her birthday as a battlefield.”

Second, he removed Marcella from every Carvelli charity, household committee, family office, and event role through formal written notices.

Third, he turned over all communications from Marcella’s office, including material that exposed unrelated Carvelli business problems.

Fourth, he ordered every associate:

No threats.

No visits.

No messages to Marcella, her lawyers, staff, photographers, doctors, trustees, or witnesses.

Fifth, he accepted the diversion agreement for the slap without complaint.

Sixth, he began discussions with federal prosecutors through counsel because Natalia’s trust review overlapped with Carvelli financial records.

That decision carried real risk.

Dominic’s empire was not clean.

His love for Lulu did not launder his life.

Grace said privately:

“Natalia wanted this years ago.”

Dominic looked at her.

“What?”

“A door you couldn’t close with power.”

He almost snapped at her.

Then did not.

That was the beginning of change.

Not goodness.

Not redemption.

A beginning.

The old Dominic would have punished Marcella privately and buried the paperwork.

This Dominic let the paperwork breathe.

That made Marcella more dangerous for a while.

It also made her weaker.

Her entire plan had depended on private fear.

May you like

Courtrooms do not eliminate fear.

But they make it harder to control who gets to speak.
