Chapter 13 - The Custody Evaluation Video

One evaluator had recorded portions of an observation session with consent under the court process.

Olivia looked exhausted.

Slow responses.

Head down.

Michael repeatedly answered for her.

Evaluator:

“Olivia, what do you like about staying with Dad?”

Michael:

“She loves our backyard.”

Evaluator:

“I’d like Olivia to answer.”

Olivia stared.

Then whispered:

“Backyard.”

Michael smiled.

Emma interrupted:

“She’s sleepy because—”

Michael immediately said:

“Emma, let your sister speak.”

The evaluator noted:

Emma frequently dominates Olivia.

That sentence later became important.

Was Emma dominating?

Or trying to explain?

Without medication context, the first interpretation seemed reasonable.

May you like

With it?

The video looked different.
