Chapter 12 - Dominic counterattacks

Dominic’s civil lawsuit named me personally.

Assault.

Defamation.

Intentional interference with employment.

He also claimed the Bellweather’s owners had used him as a scapegoat for revenue practices they encouraged.

That allegation required attention.

Because if senior executives rewarded aggressive displacement, Dominic might not be alone.

His attorneys produced performance emails.

One regional executive praised him for:

“protecting premium rate integrity during compression periods.”

Another said:

“Stop letting program inventory cannibalize convention upside.”

Ugly.

But neither email instructed:

Falsify third-party lodging costs.

Take consulting payments.

Remove families based on appearance.

Still, corporate pressure existed.

The operator had incentivized room revenue.

Dominic had responded aggressively.

The investigation expanded slightly to determine whether compensation structures encouraged contract violations.

No conspiracy.

A system with bad incentives and one executive willing to exploit them.

That was more realistic.

And more useful.
