Chapter 11 - What the phone captured after I left

Daniel forgot his phone was recording.
That became a serious problem.
Two minutes after I carried Rosie out, the recording captured my father shouting:
“He’ll bring police into this house.”
My mother:
“Lower your voice.”
Bethany:
“The child saw the envelopes.”
Daniel:
“She’s four.”
Bethany:
“She heard enough.”
Then my mother said:
“We are not discussing Northfield right now.”
Silence.
Daniel:
“Mom.”
My mother:
“I said stop.”
That single sentence proved she knew Northfield was sensitive.
Not necessarily criminal.
But sensitive.
Then my father:
“Destroy the phone if he comes back for it.”
Ironically, the phone belonged to Daniel.
May you like
No one destroyed it.
A guest picked it up later and handed it to police after learning evidence might be relevant.
