Chapter 12 - Bethany’s explanation

Bethany hired a lawyer.

Good decision.

Her first formal statement about Rosie:

She admitted gripping her.

Denied punching her.

Medical findings supported no punch.

The bruised cheek?

Rosie said Bethany shoved her against the bathroom door while forcing her inside.

Possible.

Bethany said Rosie tripped.

No camera inside.

Then the key admission:

Bethany said she became “frantic” because Rosie had overheard a confidential foundation conversation.

Her lawyer emphasized:

“She did not intend serious injury.”

Probably true.

But Bethany had restrained a four-year-old.

Covered her mouth briefly.

Squeezed her arms.

Demanded she say:

“I didn’t see anything.”

That was not discipline.

That was intimidation.
