Chapter 14 - My mother’s responsibility

My mother had not created the false invoices.

Evidence supported that.

But she chaired the foundation board.

She had approved payments.

She knew Daniel had some relationship with Northfield.

She never forced:

Competitive bids.

Independent review.

Proper recusal.

Complete ownership disclosure.

Why?

“He’s my son.”

That was her answer.

Not in court.

To me.

I said:

“So am I.”

She started crying.

That did not change anything.

Her failure was not loving Daniel.

It was allowing love to replace governance while using my dead wife’s name.
