Chapter 16 - Bethany’s child-abuse case

The physical evidence against Bethany was strong enough for charges.
But not the sensational charges some relatives demanded.
Rosie had:
Bruising.
No fracture.
No lasting physical injury.
Bethany pleaded guilty to:
Misdemeanor child endangerment.
Unlawful restraint under a negotiated count.
Sentence:
Two years probation.
Parenting/boundary counseling.
Community service.
No contact with Rosie during probation except through a court-approved therapeutic process—which I did not request.
Restitution for medical and counseling expenses.

No prison for the child case alone.
The financial case remained separate.
