Chapter 19 - The legal cases separate

There was no single:
Veronica case.
There were several tracks.
Child welfare.
Potential criminal assault/endangerment.
Mail and electronic communications.
Civil fraud.
My legal separation from Elena.
Veronica’s property and engagement claims.
Employment issues for staff who followed her instructions.
The prosecutor declined to turn every lie into a felony.
Good.
The strongest criminal conduct involved Sofia.
Video from the dressing-room hall captured enough of the incident to support my account.
No audio of the shoe-lick threat.
My testimony.
Sofia’s carefully handled disclosure.
Foot shove.
Humiliating punishment pattern.
Veronica eventually pleaded to one misdemeanor child-endangerment/assault-related count arising from the physical shove and coercive punishment.
She received:
Two years probation.
Mandatory child-development and behavioral-treatment program.
Community service.
No contact with Sofia.
Restitution for counseling and medical expenses connected to the incident.
No jail after the negotiated resolution, given limited physical injury and no prior record.
Some people hated that.
They wanted prison because the scene was emotionally revolting.
Law is not a comment section.
The communication fraud had different consequences.
The imitation email account.
Mail routing.
Interception.
False representations.
Some conduct supported civil fraud and computer-related claims; prosecutors charged a narrower misdemeanor unauthorized-access/communications offense tied to the forwarding account, resolved alongside the child case.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service reviewed the physical letters.
Because letters were delivered to the correct estate and then misrouted internally, federal mail-theft theories were not as simple as people assumed.
Again:
Specificity.
Civil discovery did much of the work.

And civil consequences became financially meaningful.
