Chapter 22 - Amanda Finishes Probation

Amanda completed probation without violation.
No contact with Sophie.
No attempts to send presents.
No appearing at restaurants I owned.
No anonymous messages.
No new assault.
She continued therapy after the court minimum.
Her employer shifted her away from situations involving children’s events for the first year.
Not legally required.
A risk-management decision.
Later she resumed adult wedding and corporate-event work.
No ban on earning a living.
She also disclosed the old foster-license closure to her therapist and employer’s compliance director where relevant.
That was part of change.
No more edited biography.
Did she become a different person?
I did not know.
I did not need to monitor her life to prove mine moved forward.
Claire heard through lawyers that Amanda was complying.
Her response:
“Good.”
Nothing more.
Eric Dalton married someone else and had a son.
He declined further involvement after giving statements.
Ruby remained with Claire.
Healthy enough.
School.
Soccer.
Therapy check-ins.
Normal adolescence approaching.
Nobody became part of my family.
Important.
A thriller often wants all characters to converge.
Real boundaries let people separate.
Claire and Ruby had their life.
Amanda had hers.
Emily and Sophie had theirs.
I had mine.
The pendant connected us for one terrible reason.
May you like
It did not require permanent relationship.
