Chapter 16 - Colin’s counterattack

Colin’s lawyer did what lawyers do.

Presented his client’s strongest case.

Giorgio is controlling.

True.

Giorgio assaulted Colin.

True.

Alessandra relies heavily on her father.

Sometimes true.

Giorgio paid for:

Part of the home down payment.

Postpartum nurse.

Nursery furniture.

Certain medical costs.

True.

The defense argued Alessandra’s move to my property showed:

“financial enmeshment.”

Maybe.

They also argued Alessandra’s exhaustion had multiple causes:

Cesarean recovery.

Hemorrhage.

Breastfeeding.

Normal newborn waking.

Not solely Colin or Marcia.

Also true.

Family court was not a morality theater.

No one declared:

Colin caused every low hemoglobin value.

He did not.

His misconduct was more specific.

He canceled support without Alessandra’s agreement.

Lied about why.

Allowed and encouraged pressure inconsistent with medical recommendations.

Dismissed warning signs.

Those facts affected trust and co-parenting.

They did not transform him into attempted murderer.

Alessandra told me:

“I hate that his lawyer says things that are true.”

I answered:

“Truth isn’t the enemy.”

She looked at me.

“Who are you?”

May you like

Fair.
