Chapter 21 - Sabine’s Accountability

Sabine faced no criminal charge for standing by while Colton tripped Wren.
The evidence did not establish she ordered it.
Her messages showed contempt.
Poor influence.
Not a prosecutable command.
She did face consequences in family court.
The court took seriously her efforts to minimize Nora and her plan to relocate Elodie into my household without adequately centering Elodie’s wishes.
Her conduct at the fairground also affected the evaluation.
Not because humiliating cake mattered.
Because her statement about Wren revealed her thinking about children as ranked positions.
Sabine began therapy.
Not performative.
Long-term.
She eventually admitted:
“I thought if everyone accepted me as Elodie’s mother, I could stop being afraid Nora would take her away.”
Then:
“When Maximilian and Wren came along, I did the same thing. I thought my place became safer if Wren’s became smaller.”
