Chapter 22 - Wren Reads Colton’s Letter

At eight, Wren asked about Colton’s apology.
It had been nearly a year.
We opened it with her therapist.
Colton wrote:
I tripped you on purpose.
Direct.
“I wanted Sabine to think I was funny and on her side.”
Then:
“You didn’t do anything to me.”
Good.
“I was mad that people paid attention to you because Sabine complained about you.”
Then:
“Your dad hitting me did not make what I did okay, and what I did did not make him hitting me okay.”
His counselor had probably helped with that line.
Good counselor.
At the end:
“I am sorry.”
Wren read.
Then asked:
“Do I have to see him?”
“No.”
“Can maybe later?”
“Yes.”
She folded the letter.
“Okay.”
